What Makes Ledegar Roofing A Safer Place To Work
Roofing is demanding work. It requires focus, physical skill, and the ability to adapt to changing weather conditions and jobsite environments. But at Ledegar Roofing, job safety isn’t just a requirement—it’s a deeply held value that shapes how we train, how we plan, and how we work together.
For over a century, Ledegar has built a reputation for craftsmanship and integrity across La Crosse and the surrounding Coulee Region. That legacy is upheld not only by the quality of our work, but by the way we protect the people doing it. We believe that creating a safe place to work is essential to creating a good place to work—and our record reflects that commitment.
A Culture Of Prevention, Not Reaction
At Ledegar Roofing, job safety starts long before anyone steps on a jobsite. Every project begins with thoughtful pre-planning that involves key members of the team, including the safety director, project managers, field supervisors, and foremen. Together, they assess the scope of the job, identify potential risks, and put the right controls in place to reduce hazards before work even begins.
We don’t believe in cutting corners or waiting until something goes wrong. We believe in giving our crews the knowledge, tools, and support they need to prevent accidents before they happen. This proactive approach helps keep our team focused on the task at hand—and confident that their well-being comes first.
Training That Goes Beyond The Basics
Safety at Ledegar Roofing isn’t limited to checklists or one-time certifications. All employees complete 160 hours of safety training, with ongoing opportunities to learn and grow throughout their careers.
Our training program includes:
- OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Certifications
- First Aid / CPR / AED
- Fall protection and scaffolding safety
- Rigging and signal person training
- Forklift operation (both shop and off-road)
- PPE selection and proper usage
- Job-specific and on-site hazard awareness training
We also participate in the ABC Safety Program and partner with our insurance company’s Risk Management group to ensure we stay up to date with changing regulations, equipment standards, and best practices.
Regular Jobsite Safety Talks
In the field, safety stays front and center through regular jobsite safety talks led by foremen and field supervisors. These talks give crews a chance to discuss real-time hazards, ask questions, and keep safety practices fresh in their minds.
Whether it’s reviewing weather-related risks, revisiting fall protection protocol, or discussing a recent close call, these conversations are an essential part of the culture we’ve built. We don’t see safety talks as a formality—we see them as a way to build trust, accountability, and awareness across the team.
One Of The Safest Records In Wisconsin And Minnesota
Thanks to this strong foundation, Ledegar Roofing has earned one of the best safety records in the roofing industry throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. We take pride in that record, not just as a company benchmark, but as a reflection of how seriously we take our responsibility to each other.
We don’t believe in luck. We believe in leadership, preparation, and respect—for the work, and for the people doing it.
